I was lucky enough to spend some time chatting with Keeley Aydin who has been a beauty therapist for the past 20 years and represented Elemis on QVC for the past 15 years. Keeley is a successful business woman, she has her own salon ELE which is in Tamworth and she also now offers treatments in North Cyprus.
It has been a dream of mine to one day meet or speak with such an inspirational woman and today was my lucky day. I wanted to know more about Keeley and also some sneak peak information, like the November TSV for Christmas.
Whilst in the middle of celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Elemis on QVC, I got the chance to ask her a few questions.
What made you want to become a beauty therapist?
Keeley explained from as young as 10 years old she used to go out into her family garden and was fascinated by all the different types of plants and flowers. At this young age she would combine different plants and flowers to mix up her own perfumes and lotions to see how different combinations would smell and feel on her skin. She also enjoyed doing manicure treatments on her family and friends. So a future in the beauty industry was apparent as she got so much joy and satisfaction from these childhood activities and ignited a passion within her.
Then at the age of 16 she went to art college to study for a degree as she mentioned one of her other passions still to this date is drawing and painting, but somehow she knew after a year of doing this course, it wasnt quite the right fit and she started to study beauty therapy.
If you didn’t work in the beauty industry, then which other profession do you think you would be good at?
Keeley said the most likely career path would of either involved being a freelance artist, as she has a passion for art or a career in nursing. Keeley has a caring and nurturing nature and a big part of the job satisfaction she has with being in the beauty industry, is when she is able to help clients who come to see her with skin or health issues, for which she is able to provide and recommend solutions.
I know this is going to be a difficult question but if you were on a desert island, which Elemis product could you not be without?
Keeley hesitated slightly but quickly chose the Elemis Skin Recovery Bliss Capsules, as they are a work horse product, that is like taking your skin to boot camp. The bliss capsules can address many problems with the skin and also provide the skin with moisture. Which on a desert island would be the perfect multi tasking product to have with you.
I also wanted to know about any behind the scenes developments of products which we may see sometime soon?
Keeley advised there is a new product range which will be unlike any other, based on the concept of supercharging your skin from within. She couldn’t say too much else as these products are still in development, but i certainly can’t wait to try this range and experience a new era in skincare.
Elemis always have a blockbuster of a Christmas TSV with QVC, which will be in November. I know this is some months away, but I wanted to know was there any information as to the contents?
Keeley immediately became very excited about this and said, it will be the biggest Christmas TSV that Elemis have ever put together, it may even exceed last year’s sell out success of which around 120 thousand collections were sold. First of all there will be a choice of collection depending on your skin requirements, the TSV will also contain both skin and body products, of which will contain three full size products and three special size products. Keeley was keen to say that a special sizes aren’t a sample sizes. Like when there has been a 30 ml of Pro Collagen Marine Cream, instead of the 50ml retail size.
I have always looked forward to the Elemis Christmas TSV and this year seems like it will be the biggest and best yet.
It has been an absolute joy and pleasure to have spent this time chatting with Keeley and very much look forward to many more in the future.
