You may know Josie Maran for being a successful model, who has worked with companies such as Glamour, Sports Illustrated, Guess?, Maybelline and appeared in a Backstreet Boys Music Video and in movies such as Van Helsing and the Aviator. But did you know in 2007 she created Josie Maran Cosmetics as over the years of modelling she learnt more and more about the toxic chemicals in most cosmetics and wanted to make a difference, to create products embodied luxury, high performance but that are good to the skin and have an environmental and social conscience.
Josie was introduced to Argan Oil while visiting the South of France by a woman who looked as if she was 40 but her actual age was 70, uses the Argan Oil ingredient on her skin, once Josie tried it there was no looking back and knew that the 100% Pure Argan Oil would be the cornerstone ingredient she would use in her products.
Josie Maran Cosmetics use 100% natural, 100% organic, pure argan oil that is harvested by Berber women who support themselves and their families by doing this. The oil is cold pressed from the nut of the argan tree. Argan oil (also known as Moroccan oil) is a multi-tasking miracle moisturiser that’s organically grown and naturally chemical-free. It’s rich in high concentrations of vitamins, minerals and powerful anti-oxidants. Vitamin E and essential fatty acids that help hydrate and soften your hair, face, body, nails and everything in between.
I have recently been using three products from the Josie Maran range and would like to share with you my experience with these wonderful products.
Argan Oil has so many benefits to the skin, it is light enough to use as an everyday moisturiser, yet has the power to soothe symptoms of acne, eczema, rosacea and sunburn. This ingredient also has the power to fade wrinkles as the anti-ageing power of the Argan Oil’s fatty acids work deep under the skin to plump and repair at the cellular level.
The first product I tried was the Josie Maran Argan Exfoliating Cleansing Powder, I have used a cleansing powder once previously and wanted to see how this product compared.
This product comes in super sleek white and rose gold looking packaging, which looks so luxurious on my bathroom shelf. This powder is free from Parabens, sulphates or Phthalates and contains natural ingredients of crushed Argan Nut shells, Tea Tree, Salicylic Acid, Ginkgo Biloba, Papin, Licorice Root and Rice Enzymes. These combine to gently buff away dead skin cells while cleansing the skin to reveal a brighter and more youthful looking complexion.
I have used this product in two different ways both of which I find very effective and leave my skin so soft, smooth and refreshed with no dryness or irritation. I use about a 50p sized amount in the palm of my hand, added a little water and rubbed my hands together to create a creamy paste which I then applied all over my face and rinsed off with water, I also added a little of the pure Argan Oil to this powder on a day my skin was looking quite dull and lacking radiance and found the addition of the oil to the powder gave my skin that extra boost.
This Argan Exfoliating Powder is exclusively available from QVCUK and you can purchase this product in a 50g size for £26.00, which considering how little you need to use, this will last you many months of cleansing.
After cleansing I then followed with the 100% Pure Argan Oil, which comes in a tinted glass bottle with a dropper to preserve the natural potency of this product and allows you to dispense the right amount. I am a big fan of using oils on my skin, as they can have a powerful effect.
I used a couple of drops on my face on a morning underneath my moisturiser to give my skin a boost of hydration, the oil instantly was absorbed into my skin within a couple of seconds, there is very little natural fragrance in this product, which attributes that the oil is so pure.
I have also used this oil on top of my moisturiser on colder days and can feel the temperatures pulling the moisture out of my skin, to feed my skin and act as a barrier to help more hydration being lost.
After using this oil for the past week I have already noticed my skin feels more hydrated, lines have been plumped up and given my skin a new radiance.
The 100% Pure Argan Oil is also a multi functional product, you can use this from head to toe in many ways such as adding a few drops to your conditioner, body moisturiser, hand cream, foot cream or face cream. It is also excellent direct on the cuticles or elbows and knees to intensely nourish those areas.
This Argan Oil is exclusively available from QVCUK in the UK and you can purchase this product in a 50ml size for £39.50, which compared to most facial oils which can be 15ml, I can see this lasting me a good six to nine months using on a daily basis on my face.
The final product I have been using is the Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Ultra Hydrating Vanilla Fig Body Butter. For many years I never used a body moisturiser on a regular basis, but i’ve noticed as the years have gone by I need to pay extra attention to the skin on my body as it can become very dry and rough without the right products.
The packaging of this body butter is very luxurious yet unisex and wouldn’t look out of place in a guys bathroom and comes in a huge 240ml size.
This body butter has a light airy, fluffy whipped texture and a little goes a long way, there is no parabens, or harsh artificial ingredients in this body butter, it is packed full of luscious plant oils of Argan, Shea Butter, Sunflower and Avocado. It is like a drink of water for the skin, it instantly nourishes and hydrates the skin, which sinks into the skin straight away, as guys want hydrated skin but not to look shiny or wait around for a product to disappear on the skin.
The fragrance is a subtle warm yet comforting blend of Vanilla and Fig, it smells delicious and have had so many compliments when I have applied this body butter. I would very much luv to try more of the fragrances in this range.
This Whipped Argan Oil Vanilla & Fig Body Butter is exclusively available from QVC in the UK and you can purchase this product in a 240ml size for £29.00, or in a duo with the Lavender Citrus for £35.16 which is excellent value whichever option you go for. As you need such a small amount I can see this lasting me many months.
Overall it has been an absolute pleasure to try the Josie Maran range, the products really deliver whilst being so kind and gentle to the skin. I love the brands ethos of being a luxury brand but with a conscience, made with love, natural organic ingredients that are paraben and cruelty free, with packaging that is recyclable and empowering the women who produce this Argan Oil ingredient shows how much Josie cares.
