As we enter a new year, I wanted to share my top ten must have products that I discovered in 2015. I first started this blog back in May and I am so thankful for all the support that everyone has given me, I have had a passion for skincare for more than twenty years and I am glad I decided to take the leap to share my point of view and knowledge with you all over the last seven months.
I have been a big fan of SBC for many years and have tried a lot of new products that they have released in 2015, the biggest stand out product for me or should I say range was the Cotton Collection and in particular the Cotton Body Oil. The combination of hydration and desensitising ingredients in this product are at their most potent, the skin on my body has become a lot more thirsty this year, with the occasional flare up and this has been a lifesaver.
Next we have the OPI Matte Nail Envy, for the first time this year my nails become weak and started to peel, so I needed to find a solution, thankfully the combination of hydrolysed wheat protein and calcium, contained in the Nail Envy formula totally transformed my nails, giving me strong, healthy nails once more. I have also been impressed by the colour lacquer collections which were released in 2015, especially the Venice Collection this has had some of my most favourite shades ever made from OPI.
Now we move onto the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish, I admit this is a product that I first tried many years ago when it was first released, but somehow over time with the excitement to try new products I had almost forgotten about this wonderful cleanser and I can truly say that I have fallen in love with using cleanse & polish all over again, this time I will always make sure I have a bottle as this is such an effective cleanser which leaves the skin clean, soft and hydrated.
I am cheating a little with this one, but I am a big fan of three products from the Studio 10 range, these are the Miracle Effect Priming Serum, Age Defy Skin Perfector and the Radiance Glow Bronzing Veil. I have come to rely on these three products to give my skin a natural, flawless appearance, making sure any areas of concern are covered up and highlighting the contours of my face, I carry these with me at all times.
Next we have the Bulldog Original Facial Wash, this brand was probably one of my biggest surprises of 2015, as I had seen the products in stores before but like many I didn’t think, given the price point that they would contain such wonderful skin friendly ingredients that are a pleasure to use. My skin always feels well cared for and looked after when using this range.
Now these two what I call “miracle workers” are a must have for me, I have always been a bit of a night owl and find it difficult to switch off most nights. The combination of the This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray & Night Oil allow me to ease into a good night’s peaceful sleep like nothing else i’ve tried before.
I have always been a fan of using facial oils, as the skin is very receptive to this type of product. I had never used Argan Oil on my skin but now I must say I am a convert, as the Josie Maran Argan Oil deeply hydrates the skin, without any greasiness or shine and is such a multi purpose product that you can use on various areas of the face and body.
I think out of all the products I have ever tried, I was never 100% convinced that a night cream could make much of a difference than your day cream, I understood the concept and theory behind it but hadn’t personally had that wow factor, that was until I tried the Cult 51 night cream. This is a pot of magic, my skin always feels deeply nourished with a lifted and firmer appearance that is still apparent when you wake up the next day, for me it is a must have.
For many years I have suffered with scalp issues, especially when I am stressed, it is the first area to show any type of sensitivity or itchiness. I have found the perfect solution with this Philip Kingsley Scalp Toner, this magical liquid cools and soothes my scalp area so all the itching and pain disappears, I am now on a maintenance programme as I find I don’t need to use it everyday, which to me shows it has lasting benefits.
Last but definitely not least is the wonderful bath and shower therapies from Bodhi & Birch. I have tried many body cleansing products over the years, but these have such a unique texture to them, they are more like a cleansing serum for the body and are power packed with highly potent essential oils which can have a realistic effect on your mood. If I had to pick my favourite it would be the Siam Ginger, the aroma of this bath and shower therapy is unlike any other I have experienced before, so uplifting and intoxicating, I can see this being a regular fixture in my bathroom for a long time to come.
I would like to say that I do use other brands products which I have used for a long time from the likes of Elemis, Decleor, Gatineau, Australian Bodycare, L’Occitane, Ultrasun, Philosophy and Bare Minerals. But I wanted to highlight the brands and products which I tried for the first time in 2015 in this blog.
I would like to thank you all for your support, comments and feedback about my blog in 2015 and I very much hope you enjoy what I have in store for 2016.
