As its the start of a new month and continuing with my “February Refresh” theme, I have decided to try a new shower gel, well shower gels, which are from L’Occitane’s Verbena range, in the original and citrus verbena scents.
L’Occitane first created a Verbena Harvest range back in 1999 and since then it has become one of their most popular and well recognised aromas. In fact when I heard about this brand fifteen years ago, the first product I purchased was the Verbena shower gel and I was instantly hooked. L’Occitane are celebrating their 40th Anniversary this year and I have tried many of their bath and body products. When I heard about this landmark anniversary I decided to re-visit the Verbena range, after all this is what first made me fall in love with this brand.
The packaging of these shower gel’s have become iconic to L’Occitane, proudly displaying the embossed Verbena leaf and braille writing on a clear bottle with filled to the brim with this gorgeous chartreuse nectar.
The original verbena aroma is the bolder out of the two, with the refreshing essential oils of verbena combined with geranium, is an aromatic experience to the senses. This immediately brings me back to being a teenager, using this shower gel for the first time. Whilst the citrus verbena aroma is more uplifting and has an extra bit of zing, which comes from the lemon and grapefruit oils that have been added to this version.
Whichever aroma you choose they both produce a beautiful foam which cascades down the body to thoroughly cleanse, leaving my skin soft, refreshed and hydrated with a subtle verbena scent.
Now that I have tried both versions I couldn’t possibly choose a favourite, I would say if you need more of a uplifting, awakening morning shower I would go with the citrus verbena option and use the original verbena as a comforting after work or gym treat.
Both of these are available from the L’Occitane website and come in a 250ml bottle, retailing at £14 which offers great value for money as these will last a good couple of months. There are lots of other products in the Verbena range if you want to expand your collection.
Have you tried any products from L’Occitane before or perhaps the Verbena range?
