I hope you are all having a lovely Bank Holiday weekend so far. Mine has been quite relaxing so far after my late night celebrations on Friday for the 1st Anniversary of this Beauty & Lifestyle Blog. Thankfully I don’t look as rough as I am feeling, which I put down to my many layers of skin products.
I am often asked about layering different products together and whether just a day cream is enough to use. There is no one correct answer, I would say the most important factor to keep in mind, is to listen to your skin. If moisturisers are sinking too quickly and your skin begins to feel dehydrated by midday then I would recommend introducing a serum under your day cream. Likewise if you are noticing visible signs of ageing, then a serum has a greater efficacy to treat these areas of concern as it has a different molecular weight to penetrate the skin deeper.
My main skin concerns when it comes to ageing, is less about wrinkles and more about skin slackening and lack of radiance. Keeping that in mine I have recently been using the Liz Earle Superskin Face Serum, I chose this serum as it has been designed to be used under your moisturiser and contains ingredients such as Persian Silk Tree, Pomegranate Flower and Rhubarb to intensely hydrate, firm and brighten the complexion, helping to slow the ticking. Also it is the only facial serum that Liz Earle have introduced to their range so I knew it must be special.
This serum comes in an ultra modern and stylish metal pump action bottle, which makes it visually attract to both genders. I found that one pump into the palm of my hand, which I then press my hands together and smooth over the skin, was enough for my entire face, with a small amount left on my finger tips to take down the neck. The texture starts off looking like a cream, but upon contact with the skin, it transforms into a rich elixir that instantly melts into the skin and I could immediately feel a firming effect. I have a combination skin type, so I was initially concerned that this serum might be too rich for my skin, but I was wrong my skin drank it in and looked refreshed and plumped. I have found that when using this serum I have stepped down the richness of my day cream and I have been using a lighter day cream as this intensely hydrates the skin just on it’s own.
After using this everyday for the two weeks, I have seen noticeable difference in the firmness of my jawline and cheekbones. Everything just feels lifted, plumper and more radiant, as if I had turned back the clock a couple of years. As at the end of the day I don’t want to look like I am a teenager again but if there is a solution to help my skin look and feel more youthful, then I am all for it. I am going to continue using this serum to see what greater benefits can be see from prolonged use. I have a feeling that I will be repurchasing this serum again in the future and makes me more excited to try the newly launched Superskin Eye Cream. Which has recently been featured in a sell out QVCUK TSV.
If you would like to experience this serum for yourself, you can purchase direct from the Liz Earle website where it retails at £48 for a 30ml size. It can also be found in high street shops such as Boots & John Lewis and is also available from QVCUK, who have a specially priced offer on this serum at the moment.
