Recently I have been trying out new ways to take some time out and relax, one of them I mentioned the other day by having a nice long soak in the bath, but that’s only half of the story. Whilst I’ve been taking these times out I’ve also been reading a book, for the first time in a long while, which has allowed me to have a bit of escapism.
The book I’ve been reading is called All About The Hype by Paige Toon, who previously was a reviews editor for Heat magazine, but after having a baby has solely focused on being an author with many fantastic works to her name. This is the third in the series of “Jessie Jefferson” story, I will admit I’ve yet to read the first two, but I found this new chapter in Jessie’s life easy to follow.
The main character Jessie is now living with her father and starts school in L.A. which is quite the adjustment to this new lifestyle where her dad is famous and it’s only been a year since her mum passed away, so the birthday party isn’t quite the celebration he had in mind. The mood does pick up and she spends a lot of time with friends and there is even quite a saucy part which reminds me of being young and the experiences I had at that age.
I really enjoyed getting to know Johnny and Meg too, they make a great couple and want to know more about their story.
The parts about the new school reminds me of the Mean Girls movie I can just see Jessie walking in on the first day not sure which group to sit with. I am a big fan of music and it was nice to see the way that singing and music were included in this book, as I feel it embeds those parts of the book in your mind.
Overall the story is full of glitz, glamour, highs and lows, like a roller coaster ride of emotions, excitement and passion, there is lots going on this book but it all works together as one cohesive read. I will certainly be reading the first two parts to find out more about the background of Jessie and how she was with her mum. If you would like to give this a read it is available from the Paige Toon website.
