As most of you know I am passionate about using SPF and I’m on a personal mission to make sure that everyone uses some form of sun protection on a daily basis, even in the Winter as the sun’s rays can still cause damage to the skin. Ladival take sun protection very seriously and want to help educate everyone about the importance of protecting against Infrared-A radiation, which is why all their products help to protect the skin from this external agressor and have developed clinically proven DNA repair after sun products to combat the suns rays after exposure.
I am a Sports Ambassador for the Ladival‘s #LoveSPF campaign and this year Ladival are proud to be the official sun protectors of LTA British Tennis and are aiming to support and encourage safer play in the sun. For every sports selfie generated, Ladival will donate £1 to the Shunburn campaign for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
So I would like to encourage all of you to get involved by snapping, posting and tagging on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, including the hashtag#LoveSPF and let’s raise lots of money for a very important cause.
Worryingly, nearly 2/3rds or (61%) of young people aged 13-24 have avoided using any form of sun protection in order to get a better tan, that it’s more on trend to have a dark golden tan, rather than worry about what the sun is doing to their skin. It’s important to understand and educate from an early age that sun damage that is happening now, could lead to skin developing cancer in later life. There may be warning signs of sunburn and peeling skin now but that’s nothing compared to the damage that could be developing under the skin.
I remember when I was a young child that my mam would always make sure we were protected and never let me take my t shirt off in the sun to be extra careful. This message has stuck with me in later life and I wear a SPF everyday of my life as it’s not just the UVB rays that cause the skin to burn its the deeper reaching UVA and infrared rays which break down the collagen and elastin in the skin to cause skin ageing and long term damage.
For the past month I have been using two products from the Ladival range:
- Ladival Sun Protection Lotion SPF30 200ml £13.50 – This lightweight non-greasy lotion gives instant hydration and protection once applied to the skin. I find this lotion to be light enough to use on my face without causing clogged pores or shine and is a great base for makeup if your not using a primer.
- Ladival Sun Protection Spray SPF15 150ml £13.50 – I like the spray application if i’m time poor and works brilliantly on hard to reach areas such as my back. This lightweight spray is what I like to keep in my bag with me for an instant top up throughout the day too.
If you’ve been sceptical about using sun protection before or found them to be heavy and greasy then I would highly reccomend you give this range a try. All products are water resistant, free from perfume, colourants, preservatives and emulsifiers, making them suitable for even the most sensitive of skins including those with eczema. I would reccomend to apply your SPF around 15 / 20 minutes before sun exposure and always to reapply after swimming or bathing and the full range can be purchased from high street retailers such as Boots or Lloyds Pharmacy at reasonable and affordable prices.
Do you currently use sun protection on a daily basis?
